Here’s what you need to know to make a strong impression and secure future roles.
Before your shift
Availability
If you are available for work, please make sure you let us know your availability as soon as possible. This makes it easier to provide you with an appropriate role. In order to be offered same day bookings, we ask you to be up and ready by 7am.
Plan your journey
Make sure to check your journey ahead of time. We recommend using TfL and/or City Mapper for real-time updates. It is your responsibility to keep up-to-date with transport options to and from your placement, so please be aware of delays, strikes, etc. If you are running late, you must contact Uniform Education as soon as possible.
Dress code
You must be appropriately dressed – smart casual attire only. Avoid shirts with slogans or heavily branded. No trainers or jeans are to be worn.
During your shift
School timings
You are expected to be at school before your start time, so that you can be signed in and settled ready to start at the arranged time. Always be there 15 minutes before your shift starts. Under no circumstances are you to leave the school prior to the agreed end time. Make sure you have completely finished your day and have appropriately conducted a handover if needed. You must not leave before the children.
Absences
As a member of staff representing not only the school, but Uniform Education, you are expected to attend shifts and trainings in the same way you would if you were a contracted member of school staff. Appointments and events must be scheduled outside of school hours or timings, and you must let your consultant know by 7am if you are sick.
Documentation
You must have your ID and DBS with you. Failure to provide these upon arrival will result in placement cancellation for the day.

Safeguarding
Phone usage
You must absolutely not use your phone on school premises, with the exception of the staff room during appropriate breaks. We recommend keeping them stowed away at all times.Images
Under no circumstances may you take pictures or videos of the pupils, unless otherwise asked to do so my a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Some schools may operate using video recording systems for staff and student safety. By agreeing to the school booking, you grant the school full rights to use the images resulting from this for any safeguarding or disciplinary processes.Behavioural policies
You must familiarise yourself with the school’s behavioural policy and adhere to it at all times. You must never use physical contact and must avoid discussing your personal life with pupils. -
After your shift
Timesheets
It is your responsibility to ensure timesheets are submitted on time and correctly. Please ensure you read the instructions carefully and only submit on a Friday afternoon, once you have completed the week’s work.Payments
You will receive payment on Fridays, a week in arrears. You must not discuss your rate of pay with anyone else. Pay increases are conducted periodically, based on performance, and must only be discussed with your consultant.Contract obligations
We ask all staff to provide us with a one week notice period, so that we can provide the school with the best possible transition and arrange suitable cover.
